In this regard I will earnestly request you with folded hands to use your good offices to take this matter to a positive conclusion. Virender Singh Rana KADIPUR

Vedik Sanskrit Jat High School Kheda Gadhi

Contribution of collegiate Jat students in the establishment of Vedik Sanskrit Jat High School Kheda Gadhi, Suba Delhi - Information culled out from the JAT GAZETTE Newspaper of 1920.

Dehli To-day I will try to place on record the names of the then college students of our community studying in various colleges at Delhi and Lahore and Agra from 1918 onwards who helped Chaudhary Bhim Singh Kadipur in the establishment of Vedik Sanskrit Jat School Kheda Gadi in Suba Delhi.

Special mention of colleges such as St. Stephen's college and Ramjas college at Delhi and D. A. V. College and Dayal Singh College at Lahore may be made which undertook special efforts to admit and teach the Jat students and gave many facilities like free accommodation in their hostels and freeship to the poor Jat students of the educationally backward community. These college students, at the clarian call of Chaudhary Bhim Singh Kadipur, did honorary (without any remuneration) teaching work and even did manual labour for the construction of class rooms at Vedik Sanskrit Jat School Kheda Gadhi, during their summer holidays. These students committed to the welfare of their educationally PICHHDI Jati. A few of these educated young heroes were

They are the real heroes and torch bearers of those days an of to-day too.

My eldest uncle Narain Singh, son of Chaudhary Bhim Singh Of village Kadipur (Qadipur) situated in Delhi district, joined Dyal Singh College Lahore in the year 1910 for English (Hons.) course after matriculation from Delhi. During his stay there Mr. Thadani was his Professor of English and mentor of student Narain Singh. Testimonials given by Professor Thadani n favour of Narain Singh are prized possession of his son (and my cusion) Vijay Pal Singh Kadipuri, an alumni of St. Stephen's College. Later on Professor Thadani joined prestigious Hindu College of Delhi University and rose to become its Principal. My uncle graduated in 1914 English (Hons.) In First Division. Afterwards he joined L.LB degree course in Lahore University and passed in 1916 & practiced in High Court Lahore. If Dyal Singh Lahore/ University of Lahore could look into their Archives and some information relating to old students like Narain Singh I shall be highly grateful to the concerned authorities / people.

CRZ High School Sonepat

Chottu Ram Zamindar (CRZ) High School Sonepat Group Photo

Namaste Ji. Thanks for providing subtle information about CRZ High School Sonipat. I was able to find out the contribution made by Chaudhary Tika Ram Mandaura, Chaudhary Hari Ram Chitana & Chaudhary Shadi Ram 'Yatri' Khevda in establishing first Vedik Sanskrit Jat Middle School Khera Garhi in 1920 and then upgrading it to High School under the able guidance of Chaudhary Bhim Singh Kadipur who laid its foundation stone in September 1920 in the august presence of Sh. Anand Muni Ji (earlier Chaudhary Phul Singh of Shahbad Daulatpur Suba Delhi) Chaudhary Abhay Ram Mamoorpur (Narela), Chaudhary Risal Singh Pahadi Dhiraj Delhi, Chaudhary Tika Ram Mandaura and Chaudhary Hari Ram Chitana. Chaudhary Tika Ram & Chaudhary Hari Ram Chitana were college mates of St. Stephen's College Delhi. Eye witness account of foundation stone ceremony of the said institution is with me. At that time Chaudhary Tika Ram & Chaudhary Surajmal Khanda Kheri were pursuing Law degree from Lahore and Jat Boarding House Lahore was also coming up. Perhaps Chaudhary Ramji Lal Mandauri, (neighborhood village of Mandaura) father- In-law of my Bua Ji Smt. Shanti Devi (daughter of Chaudhary Bhim Singh Kadipur) was also instruemental in helping Chaudhary Tika ram in opening educationa institutions in rural area of Tehsil Sonepat of district Rohtak. Chaudhary Ramji Lal also constructed a classroom in Jat School Kheda Garhi. Perhaps Chaudhary Karan Singh Rasoi was the first Headmaster of CRZ High School Sonepat. He was also Head of Normal School Karnal. A band of dedicated teachers of Vaedik Sanskrit Jat High School Kheda Garhi like Chaudhary Hari Ram Chitana, Chaudhary Dalel Singh Halalpur & Chaudhary Chet Ram Garhi (Kheda) offered their services for opening a Jat School at Sonepat. I found a file in National Archives of India, containing a Report of a Committee of University of Delhi comprising of Professos of Delhi University, which had given provisional permission to upgrade Vaedik Sanskrit Jat High School Kheda Garhi into an Intermediate College of Delhi University in 1930 due to the unrelenting efforts of Chaudhary Bhim Singh Kadipur & Chaudhary Tika Ram Mandaura. But alas! that was not to be. Perhaps due to the internal bickrings and fighting nature of our Community ( in the words of Chaudhary Baldev Singh, first Headmaster of Jat School Rohtak) the dream of our forefathers to upgrade Jat School Kheda Garhi remained a distant dream. Chaudhary Hari Ram Chitana was instruemental in establishing Jat High School Rajlu Gadhi. Chaudhary Karan Singh Rasoi was instruemental in opening Rifai- Am Hailey High School at Narela. The land for the said was donated by the Jat farmers of Mamoorpur village under the able guidance of Chaudhary Abhay Ram (Municipal Commissioner) and Chaudhary Lumbardar Kanak Singh (father of Swami Omanand) Mamoorpur.

The said Group Photo of the staff of Chottu Ram Zamindar (CRZ) High School Sonepat posted perhaps by an ex-studentf CRZ High School Sonepat on Facebook is of which year, I do not know. Possibaly it is of 1980 decade. I was an alumni of the said august School from class VI to VIII from 1959 to 1962. We five cusions were hostelers. Chaudhary Dalel Singh Halalpur was Headmaster of the School. Chaudhary Sube Singh Lahdsauli was Superintendent of Junior Wing Hostel & Chaudhary Dalip Singh Gopalpur was Superintendent of the Senior Wing i. e. Birla (Bidla) Hostel. In the Junior Wing Hostel there was a corner room meant for the Prefect of the Hostel. That room was alloted to my cusion Shamsher Singh and me by Headmaster Sahib as he was brother of my Tai ji Shanti Devi from Halalpur. Incidently Headmaster Sahib passed Matriculation Examination from Vedik Sanskrit Jat High School Kheda Garhi Suba Dehli which was founded by my grandfather Chaudhary Bhim Singh Raes Kadipur in the year 1920. Headmaster Sahib graduated in B.Sc. stream from Ramjas College, University of Delhi. I am also a proud alumni of both the above educational institutions. Among prominent teachers of the Jat School Sonepat were Chaudhary Jialal & Chaudhary Sukhbir Singh Chitana, Chaudhary Dhajaram Jathedi, Chaudhary Daryao Singh & Chaudhary Dharam Singh Mandaura, Chaudhary Chetram Garhi (Kheda) Shri Jyotiram Gupta/ Agarwal to name a few. Sh. Jyotiram, perhaps from neighbouring village Fatehpur, used to teach Maths to our Section, a hard taskmaster in his own right & a terror to weak students like me in his subject. He was very fond of subjecting we weak students with physical punishment. Headmaster Sahib used to teach us English in VI class. He was also a terror no less than Jyotiram Ji. However as I was ' quite good' in English Subject, I never had a taste of corporal punishment, of which Headmaster Sahib was also very fond of. Chaudhary Sube Singh was quite considerate to the young students & popular too. There was our 'Punjabi' Drawing Master from Panipat and a Shastri Ji who used to teach us Punjabi (Gurmukhi) language. At that it was Punjab & hence Gurmukhi was compulsory. When I was in VIII Class a Sardar ji joined the School as a Gurmukhi teacher. He made strenuous & laborious efforts to teach Gurmukhi to my classmate cusion Shamsher Singh and me. With his commendable efforts I got through in Gurmukhi by securing 43 marks out of 100 in Middle School Board Examination. I forgot the names of my three Gurujis & hence my unconditional apologies. Their was lot attention towards studies as well as games & sports in the School. Headmaster Dalel Singh Halalpur was an Institution in himself. He was a great teacher as well as a thorough Administrator.

Coins left behind in 23 May 1871 dacoity

The coin shown in above photographs is an 1840 One Rupee silver coin issued by the East India Company during the reign of Queen Victoria. Struck in high-purity silver and designed according to the standardized British Indian currency system introduced in the nineteenth century. Recently the said coin, by chance, was found in a wall hide out in the Haveli of my grandfather Chaudhary Bhim Singh Kadipur while carrying out repairs. The front side of the coin carries the youthful portrait of Queen Victoria facing left, surrounded by the inscription 'VICTORIA QUEEN' a design commonly referred to as the “Young Head” portrait. She ascended the British throne in 1837. India was then governed by the East India Company and not by the British Crown. Appearance of Victoria’s portrait on Indian coinage was to reinforce British imperial authority. The reverse side of the coin features the words “ONE RUPEE” in English & Urdu. Placed at the center within an elegant wreath of laurel leaves, while the outer edge bears the inscription “EAST INDIA COMPANY” along with the year 1840 at the bottom. The laurel wreath symbolized victory, power, prestige, and authority of British Empire. The visible wear, scratches, dark toning, and smoothness seen on this particular example suggest that it remained in circulation for many years, yet important details such as the date, lettering, wreath, and outline of Queen Victoria’s portrait are still recognizable, allowing the coin to retain both its historical identity . Typically, coins of this type were struck in silver of approximately 91.7% purity, weighed around 11.66 grams (one tola) . Before Independence the weight measures were in Tola, chhtank, Seer & Mound. Incidentally a dacoity was committed in Kadipur Haveli of Lumbardar Ram Dyal Grandfather of Bhim Singh Kadipur on 23 May 1871. A First Information Report of dacoity of 16306 silver rupee coins was registered in Thana Alipur of North Delhi District against unknown persons. and as per weight measures 16306 coins weighed about 190 Kgs. The dacoiits mounted said booty on camels and carried away. Probably out of those coins, as luck would have it, this coin was left behind and found per chance.
