Ascending the throne during an era of geopolitical fragmentation in the region, he led a stable 30-year reign focused on securing his borders, reforming local tax structures, and supporting regional culture.
Raja Pal Singh Utpal died in AD 150. He is remembered in traditional clan histories as a just administrator whose foundational policies established the lineage and laid the groundwork for the future rulers of the Pilania line.

Captain Dalip Singh Ahlawat Theory
According to Captain Dalip Singh Ahlawat, the history of the Utpal–Uppal clan traces back to the Utpal Jat dynasty. The dynasty's ruler, Avantivarman, governed Kashmir and the wider Dogra region around Vikram Samvat 912 (855 CE). He founded the city of Avantipur, where the ruins of his temples can still be seen today. Members of the Utpal Jat clan later established the village of Palana near Badi Khatu in Bikaner. Over time, those who migrated and settled in other regions began identifying themselves by the surname Pilania, derived from the name of their ancestral village, Palana.
Mahendra Singh Arya Theory Pilanias were probably Samantas of Chauhans ruling at Peelwa (पीलवा) village in Parbatsar tehsil of Nagaur district in Rajasthan. Its ancient name was Pilavahika (पील्वाहिक) in the inscriptions of Chahamans of Marwar. Jalor Stone Inscription of Samarasimhaadeva S.V. 1239 (1182 AD) mentions about it. (See:Chahamans of Marwar)
The record opens with an invocation (v.1) to Nabheya i.e. Rishi Tirthankara. It then refers to reign of Maharaja ... son of Maharaja Kirtipaladeva'. The latter we are told was the son of the .. who belonged to the lineage of Maharaja Alhana - "the moon in the sky of Chahamana". It further speaks of the Rajaputra Jojila as person looking after the affairs of the kingdom. We are informed that he held in ....the multitude of unsettled tribals ....district of Pilavahika. It the refers to Samarasimha and Jojala was maternal uncle. In Pilwa in Parbatsar district of Jodhpur state on the frontier of the ....and Taskaraka are perhaps the Bavris who all abound there. ...Seth Yashovira son of Jagadhara of Shrimala family. .... . The date of inscription was Thursday the bright half of vaishakha of the vikrama year 1239.

Primary Folk God Deola Dada Pilania
Deola Dada Pilania (1611–1643 AD) was a respected folk deity and warrior of the Pilania clan. He is remembered for sacrificing his life while protecting cows at Jhojhu Kalan in present-day Haryana. Born in Pilani, he was the son of Ram Singh Pilania and Rajkor Pilania. Today, he is worshipped as a folk deity for his bravery and devotion.
Secondary Folk God Tejpal Ji Maharaj
Veer Tejpal Ji Pilania (1200 - 1229 AD) - He was a folk deity of Pilania Clan. He, along with his brothers, attained martyrdom while protecting the cows of lakshmi from the butchers. His temple is at Pilani.
