Raja Fateh Singh II Pilania (reigned 1870–1879) was the ruler of Sutot and a prominent member of the Pilania dynasty. He succeeded his father, Raja Tara Singh II Pilania, as Raja of Sutot in 1870 and ruled until 1879. His reign was characterized by administrative continuity, regional stability, and the preservation of the traditional authority of the Pilania house.
Early Life
Raja Fateh Singh II Pilania was born into the noble Pilania clan of the Jat community. He was the son and heir of Raja Tara Singh II Pilania, from whom he inherited the leadership of Sutot. As a prince of the ruling family, he was educated in matters of governance, estate administration, and the responsibilities associated with hereditary rule.[1]
Reign
Upon the accession of Raja Fateh Singh II in 1870, the administration of Sutot entered a period of continuity and orderly governance. Building upon the foundations established by his predecessors, he oversaw the affairs of the estate and maintained the position of the Pilania dynasty within the region.
His reign coincided with a period of political and social change across northern India during the late nineteenth century. Despite these developments, Sutot remained under the stewardship of the Pilania family, preserving its established institutions and local influence.[2]
Raja Fateh Singh II was regarded as a capable ruler who upheld the dignity and traditions of his house. Under his leadership, the estate continued to function as an important centre of local authority and community leadership.[3]
Family
Raja Fateh Singh II Pilania was the son of Raja Tara Singh II Pilania and belonged to the hereditary ruling line of Sutot. He was succeeded by his son, Raja Uday Singh Pilania, who assumed the leadership of the estate following his death in 1879.[4][5]
