Introduction
Raja Dayaram Pilania (died 1858) was the ruler of Sutot and head of the Pilania dynasty in the Shekhawati region of present-day Rajasthan, India. He succeeded Raja Ram Pilania in 1800 and ruled until 1858. His reign of fifty-eight years was among the longest in the recorded succession of the rulers of Sutot.
Early life
Raja Dayaram Pilania was born into the Pilania Jat clan of Shekhawati. He was the son of Raja Ram Pilania, the ruler of Sutot from 1777 to 1800. He was raised within the ruling family and became heir to the estate during his father's lifetime.[1]
Accession
Following the death of Raja Ram Pilania in 1800, Dayaram Pilania ascended to the leadership of the Sutot estate. His accession marked the continuation of the hereditary succession of the Pilania rulers.[2]
Reign
Raja Dayaram Pilania governed Sutot during the first half of the nineteenth century. His reign provided continuity to the administration of the estate and maintained the position of the Pilania family within the Shekhawati region.
The period of his rule coincided with significant political developments across northern India. Throughout these changes, the Sutot estate remained under the leadership of the Pilania dynasty. His long tenure contributed to the stability of the ruling house and ensured the orderly succession of the next generation.
