Bauhara (बौहरा) is gotra of Jats.

Origin

This gotra started from their ancestral mahapurusha named Virauhana (विरौहणा).

They are a pure Hindu Jat community belonging to the noble Chandravanshi lineage. History

​Historically, the Bauhara Jats have been a powerful landowning (Zamindar) community in the Agra and Mathura regions. Their history is deeply linked with the Jat resistance and administration in the Braj area. In the official records of Tehsil Kiraoli (Agra), they are documented as a leading Jat clan. It is crucial to distinguish them from other communities; Bauhara is a dedicated Jat surname, reflecting the pride and heritage of the Jat people.

Distribution

The Bauhara Jat clan has its primary strongholds in the heart of the Braj region. The major centers of this gotra include: ​Kiraoli (Agra), UP: The village Nagla Umrao, which is widely renowned by its surname-based name 'Nagla Bauhara'. ​Bharatpur, Rajasthan: The village named 'Bauhara Nagla' (also known as Nagla Bauhara), located in the historic Jat territory of Bharatpur. ​Regional Presence: They also have a significant population in Fatehpur Sikri, Akola blocks, Mathura, and Dholpur.

1.Shri Toran Singh Bauhara(श्री तोरन सिंह बौहरा): Born on January 1, 1949, he is a highly distinguished and respected figure from Village Nagla Umrao (popularly known as Nagla Bauhara) and Kiraoli, Agra. A dedicated educator by profession, he spent his career shaping the future of countless students. In recognition of his extraordinary contribution to the field of education, he was honored with the prestigious 'Shiksha Samman' (Education Award) by the Education Minister in 2008. After retiring in 2011, he has fully devoted himself to social service. He remains a key pillar and a source of inspiration for the Bauhara Jat community in the Braj region.
