Indo-Canadians are Canadians who trace their ancestry to India. While terms like "East Indian" or "South Asian" are often used in official contexts to distinguish them from Indigenous "Indian" peoples or West Indians from the Caribbean, most members of the community simply identify as "Indian." Anshul Malik (Hindi: अंशुल मलिक) is an Indo-Canadian pistol shooting athlete based in Saskatoon, Saskatchewan, Canada. Originally from Haryana, India, he is an internationally ranked competitor known for his technical precision and significant contributions to the Canadian shooting sports community.
Early Career
Malik began his shooting career in Haryana in 2014 and was a prominent member of the Indian Junior Shooting Squad. In 2017, he earned international acclaim by winning the Gold medal in the Air Pistol Junior Men's (team) event at the 11th International Shooting Championship of Hannover in Germany.
High-Performance Comeback
After immigrating to Canada in 2021, Malik briefly stepped away from the sport due to the challenges of relocation. He successfully returned to high-performance competition in 2025
At the 2025 Canadian National Pistol Championships in Innisfil, Ontario, he secured five medals, including two national titles. He has also held the title of Saskatchewan Provincial Champion in both 2023 and 2025.
