Raja Kanau was a ruler of Bahanpur State and a member of the Pilania Dynasty. He ruled Bahanpur from 1720 to 1750 and is remembered as an early ruler who strengthened the administration and position of the state during the eighteenth century.
Early life
Raja Kanau was born to Rao Harbal Singh and Rani Kasturi Devi. He was raised in Bahanpur and later became the ruler of the state.
Reign
Raja Kanau Pilania ascended the throne of Bahanpur around 1720. During his reign, he worked to consolidate the authority of the state and strengthen local governance. According to regional traditions, his rule was marked by stability and the continued growth of Bahanpur's influence in the surrounding area.
He remained ruler of Bahanpur until about 1750, overseeing the affairs of the state during a period of significant political change in northern India.
Family
Raja Kanau Pilania had three known sons:
- Kunwar Deep Singh Pilania
- Kunwar Khem Singh Pilania
- Kunwar Devi Singh Pilania
Following his death, his son Raja Khem Singh Pilania succeeded him as ruler of Bahanpur.
Legacy
Raja Kanau Pilania is regarded as one of the notable early rulers of Bahanpur. His reign helped establish the foundations for the continued rule of the Pilania Dynasty in the region.
Death
Rao Kanau died after a distinguished reign and was succeeded by Raja Khem Singh Pilania.
