Raja Gursahai Singh Pilania (1857–1898) was a Jat zamindar and ruler of the Unchagaon estate in present-day Uttar Pradesh, India. He founded the Pilania house of Unchagaon and established the family's position among the landed aristocracy of northern India during the late nineteenth century.
Early life
Raja Gursahai Singh Pilania was born in 1857 into the Pilania clan of the Jat community. He belonged to a prominent landholding family and rose to prominence during the period following the Indian Rebellion of 1857.
Unchagaon estate
Following the Indian Rebellion of 1857, Raja Gursahai Singh Pilania was granted the Fort of Unchagaon and its associated zamindari. The grant established the Pilania family's authority over the estate and marked the beginning of their hereditary association with Unchagaon.
As zamindar, he administered the estate and oversaw its agricultural and revenue affairs. Under his leadership, the estate became an established landed domain within the Moradabad region.
Death and succession
Raja Gursahai Singh Pilania died in 1898 and was succeeded by his grandson, Raja Karan Singh Pilania. Following Karan Singh's death in 1927, the estate passed to Raja Surendra Singh Pilania, who married a daughter of Maharaja Kishan Singh of Bharatpur State. During his tenure, Unchagaon Fort underwent extensive renovation in 1933.
