Mukhtiar Singh Solanki

Mukhtiar Singh Solanki (M.S. Solanki) is an IFS (Retd.) officer and former Chief Conservator of Forests in Madhya Pradesh.
Early life
Mukhtiar Singh Solanki was born on 12th August 1927 in the village Nasirpur (Palam), situated in the suburbs of Delhi.
He studied in Middle School at Palam earlier and then passed the matriculation exam from Kharar (Punjab) in 1944. The same year, he was nominated by the Delhi administration to study at Punjab Agriculture College, Lyallpur (now in Pakistan). Following the partition of India, he was admitted in December 1947 to the Govt. Agriculture College, Kanpur, from where he passed his M.Sc. (Agri.) in 1950. Throughout these six years, he received a merit scholarship from the Delhi District Board and distinguished himself as the first postgraduate from his village.
His family
He comes from a well-known Jat family of Bhagmal Zaildar. The family takes immense pride in its strong legacy of defense service. During World War II, five uncles of Mukhtiar Singh served at various locations in the army. Each of the subsequent three generations has also provided an officer of the rank of Brigadier or higher, including Dalip Singh Solanki, Brig. (Retd.) who is Mukhtiar Singh's uncle, and Anand Solanki, Brig. (Retd.), who is his eldest son (whose two sons have also served as Colonel rank officers in the Indian Army).
Career in Forest Service
Mukhtiar Singh decided to pursue his career in the Department of Forests.
He was selected for the Superior Forest Service of CP & Berar in 1951 and was sponsored for a two-year training program for the award of a Diploma in Forestry at the Indian Forest College, Dehra Dun. Upon completion of his training in April 1953, he was appointed as an Assistant Conservator of Forests in CP & Berar (now Madhya Pradesh). At that time, he was the only Jat officer in the State Forest Service. He served a full tenure of 35 years in the Forest Department and retired on August 31, 1985, as Chief Conservator of Forests and Managing Director of the M.P. State Forest Development Corporation, Bhopal, having enjoyed an exceptionally distinguished career. In 1974, he received an accelerated promotion to the rank of Conservator of Forests and was twice selected to serve the Central Government on deputation as: (i) Lecturer at the Indian Forest College, Dehra Dun (1959–64), and (ii) Deputy Inspector General of Forests, Government of India (1987–91).
Social Service
M.S. Solanki is a life member of Bhopal Jat Sabha. Mukhtiar Singh has devoted his time sincerely to the cause of the Bhopal Jat Sabha, serving as its president for over two years until 1985. Since then, he has remained deeply involved in the welfare of the Sabha, though in his advanced age, physical attendance has become difficult while his interest in its affairs remains steadfast.
